The Turkish Operational Research Society (YAD) was founded in 1975 with the aim of promoting, disseminating, and contributing to the implementation of operational research in our country.
At the first General Assembly meeting held in June 1975 at the Marmara and Scientific and Industrial Research Institute in Gebze, the following board of directors was elected:

Main Objectives and Activities of YAD
- To establish scientific and professional collaboration among members,
- To advance operational research in Türkiye through the exchange of information,
- To support activities that contribute to the development of operational research and to science in general,
- To engage and cooperate with national and foreign institutions operating in related fields, exchanging information and fostering collaboration,
- To emphasize the contribution of operational research to national development and to encourage the adoption of operational research methods in public and private sector organizations,
- To organize conferences, seminars, and meetings, and to publish periodic and non-periodic publications.
